About This Course

This Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), 'Urbanisation in Africa: the art of the possible', critically examines the rapid growth of African cities, the key factors driving this transformation, and the benefits and drawbacks associated with this phenomenon. Students will gain a foundational understanding of how urbanisation affects societies, economies, and the environment, and gain insight into some of the creative strategies African role players are implementing in an effort to achieve more sustainable,inclusive and equitable urban growth. 

Requirements

Individuals interested in pursuing this course, should possess a curiosity about Africa's increasing urbanisation, the multiple social, economic and environmental pressures it is exerting, and the innovations in urban planning, practice, and governance that it is catalysing in Africancities. We advise students to be computer literate and to have access to reliable internet connectivity.
